State Grid Ranked No.1 in China’s 500 Most Valuable Brands for Three Consecutive Years

On 20thJune, 2018, the 15th World Brand Summit was jointly held by World Executive Group and World Brand Lab in Beijing. China’s 500 Most Valuable Brands 2018 was released on the Summit. State Grid ranked No.1 with a value of RMB 406.569 billion, an increase of RMB 76.682 billion from that of last year, growth for 12 years in a row. It is the third consecutive year for State Grid to rank No.1. 


Since the 19th CPC National Congress, State Grid has been making strengthened efforts to study, implement and promote Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and steadily implemented the decisions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. With a strong sense of responsibility, determination and courage, State Grid made new progress in all aspects. In the end of 2017, State Grid had a total asset of over RMB 3.8 trillion, in which RMB 2.3 trillion was contributed by main business operations. State Grid remained the 2nd on Fortune Global 500. 

Brand is a valuable asset of an enterprise. It is a major force serving, supporting and safeguarding the innovative development of an enterprise. Since the 19th CPC National Congress, with the strong leadership of State Grid Party Committee, media promotion and brand construction highlights supporting, promoting and implementing the decisions of the 19th CPC National Congress with an integrated and coordinated approach to media publication, opinion leading, ideology management, brand construction and social responsibility fulfillment. These efforts proved to be very effective, creating a harmonious internal and external environment for corporate development and power grid construction. State Grid will continue to hold high the banner of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, strengthen the “Four Awareness” and “Four Confidence” to consolidate the ideological foundation and common pursuit of solidarity and hard work to build State Grid into a world-class energy intergrid enterprise and a world-class brand.

As a global authoritative brand evaluation agency, World Brand Lab has released China’s 500 Most Valuable Brands for 15 years in a row. The team expert and consultant committee is composed of professionals from Harvard University, Yale University, MIT, Oxford University, Cambridge University and other top universities in the world and chaired by Prof. Robert A. Mundell from the University of Colombia. The Report is based on financial analysis, consumer behavior analysis and brand influence analysis. Related research results have become important reference for the evaluation of the intangible asset of enterprises.

The top five Chinese brands are: State Grid (RMB 406.569 billion), Tencent (RMB 402.845 billion), Haier (RMB 350.278 billion), ICBC (RMB 334.561 billion) and China Life (RMB 325.372 billion). The top 500 brands for 2017 are distributed in 25 industries including food and beverage, textile and clothing, culture and media, information technology and home appliances.

More than 700 persons including professors from Harvard University, MIT, Yale and INSEAD, representatives of China’s 500 Most Valuable Brands 2018 and media representatives attended the Summit.
