State Grid has taken an active part in activities organized by international organizations to promote the corporate philosophy and brand. It has communicated and cooperated with more than a dozen influential international organizations including Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (G-SEP) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). State Grid continuously strengthens its role in international organizations. Currently, State Grid Chairman Dr. Shu Yinbiao is Vice Chairman of IEC and Chairman of B20 China Council for Business and Commerce. State Grid has also sent professionals and experts to important international organizations to support their work.
In 2016, State Grid organized 2016 International Conference on Global Energy Interconnection, G-SEP Beijing Summit and IEC Development Strategy High-level Round Table. Leaders of State Grid attended G20 Business Forum, 80th Annual Meeting of IEC, EURELECTRIC International Conference and other important conferences and delivered a series of speeches. State Grid made full use of international communication platforms to promote the latest scientific research results, management experience and development concept of the corporation and proposed the plan for energy transition. Through contributing State Grid solutions and making the voice of State Grid heard, we are able to improve our international competitiveness and influence.
In 2017, State Grid took an active part in international exchange activities of international organizations to showcase our research results, business progress and development concept. State Grid jointly organized 2017 International Conference on Renewable Energy Development and Technology with IEC in Germany and Renewable Energy Technology Forum with REN in Portugal and signed renewable energy cooperation framework agreements with IRENA, DENA, Energinet and REN to make joint efforts to promote the global transition to green energy development, which, as an important move towards realizing energy consumption and sustainable development in China, was highly praised and recognized by Premier Li Keqiang. State Grid Chairman Dr. Shu Yinbiao attended Summer Davos as co-chair and proposed the initiative to promote the transition to green and low-carbon energy through building a new generation of power system featuring intensive connectivity, smart interaction, flexibility, resilience, safety and controllability, and attended the High-level Dialogue between Chinese and German Prime Ministers and Economic Community to accelerate the development of “Made in China 2025” through alignment with “Industry 4.0” in Germany. Besides, Dr. Shu Yinbiao also attended Oxford Frontier Forum on Power Generation and Distribution on invitation, where he worked together with world top universities to discuss plans for energy transition, attended “Belt and Road” Summit Forum on International Cooperation and the press conference held by the State Council and made a speech on the 8th Clean Energy Ministers’ Forum to share the experience of State Grid in promoting innovation, green development and mutually-beneficial, win-win cooperation in an effort to benefit the world with Chinese innovations. State Grid also sent a delegation of young experts to attend 2017 International Youth Energy Forum with outstanding performance, wining the “Green Technological Solution” Award. In conclusion, State Grid has been actively attending and organizing high-level forums and activities to promote new development concepts, share experience with the rest of the world and improve global influence.
Currently, State Grid has signed cooperation agreements with 18 well-known international power companies, government departments, international organizations, universities and research institutions for comprehensive cooperation in power grid frontier technologies, the development of renewable energy and strategy as well as research exchange and communication.
