In the afternoon of October 16, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of the P.R.C ( SASAC ) convened a video conference on the Information Technology work of all State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) in Beijing to summarize their IT construction work in recent years, analyze the assessed results of the IT strength of SOEs in 2007 and make a calibrated deployment upon the next-stage IT construction tasks. SGCC's IT work was rated as grade A by SASAC, ranking the 4th among all SASAC-managed SOEs.

In the re-evaluation prior to this conference the expert team formed by SASAC spoke highly of the IT level of SGCC and identified it as one of the pioneer in the IT work of all SOEs. At this conference SASAC fully affirmed the exemplary role of the executives of SGCC in five aspects as: highlighting and promoting the IT work with all effort, incorporating the IT planning into the corporate development planning, facilitating the "two shifts" strategy of the company through IT technology, improving labor productivity with IT applications, centralizing procurements and saving a huge amount capital through bidding of IT systems.

According to SASAC and all SOEs, this IT evaluation was conducted comprehensively, objectively and strictly, which would reflex the IT level of each SOE and the differences between them by ranking based on the absolute value of scores. In this comprehensive evaluation SGCC was identified as Grade A ranking the 4th with each of the 4 crucial indices ranked top among all SOEs, of which the IT leadership ranked the first; 19 secondary indices reach excellence. The following four indices, in particular, ranked the best: the standard norm and control system of IT, the IT of main businesses, centralization level of IT and the information safety management.
