UHV AC Composite Coat Equipment Passed the Earthquake-proofing Test

Recently, UHV AC composite coat equipment and voltage transformer equipment's joint quake proofing and damping test in Shanghai organized by SGCC signified another major achievement in anti-seismic performance for China¡¯s UHV equipment, serving as an reference for the design, equipment selection and seismic technology research of UHV substation in high earthquake intensity area.

On March 8 to 14, joint quake-proofing and short absorber test was conducted in Tongji University. This is the world's first earthquake test rig with actual connected status of UHV AC composite coat equipment. The tubular bus is 18.15m high with a span of 8.5m. All the equipment, stents, tubular bus, and golding used in the test are all supplied in real projects. The accelerated speed of the test is 0.5g (9-degree earthquake). Two shaking tables are used in the system. The seismic performance verified the high resistance loop system and the anti-quake design of the equipment. The experimental results are in good agreement with the results of seismic calculation.

China is an earthquake-prone country. The anti-seismic capacity of substation equipment directly affects the safe and reliable electricity supply. UHV substation outlet high resistance arrester and sensor are used as supporting component of the tubular conductor, reducing the number of equipment and footprint, therefore, putting new requirements for the mechanical strengthen of equipment. In order to study the mutual coupling effect of the composite coat arrester and the sensor in an earthquake, SGCC has conducted full-scale experiment on joint quake proofing performance, apart from anti-quake test on individual UHV equipment.

Experts and representatives from SGCC's Department of AC Transmission Project, China Electric Power Research Institute, CMCT, Beijing University Of Technology, and equipment manufacturers witnessed the experiment.
