The "Sunshine Poverty Relief Action" of SGCC started the Construction of Village-level PV Power Stations in "Three Counties and One District" in Hubei
On March 8, 2017, it is learned from the launching ceremony of the construction of village-level PV power stations in three counties and one district in Hubei (Badong County, Zigui County, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County and Shennongjia Forest District) that in 2016, SGCC spent RMB 180 million on building 6 PV power stations for poverty alleviation in three counties and one district in Hubei with a total installed capacity of 19.8 MW. In 2017, SGCC is expected to spend another RMB 457 million building 200KV PV power stations in 236 poor villages on record in the three counties and one district in Hubei with an accumulated capacity of 47.2 MW. It is expected that these projects to be completed in June will help drive 96,000 people out of poverty in the three counties and one district.
Following the guidance of The State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, SGCC has been implementing targeted poverty alleviation projects in three counties and one district in Hubei for 22 years in a roll since 1995. At the same time, to carry out the national strategy to win the battle of poverty alleviation, SGCC decided to implement the "SGCC Sunshine Poverty Relief Action" composed of "Power for All", "PV power stations integration for poverty alleviation" and "targeted poverty alleviation in five counties" during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
According to the person in charge of State Grid Hubei Electric Power Company, as the implementer of the project, the Company has spent RMB 130 million for targeted poverty alleviation in infrastructure construction, training programs and talent development with 421 poverty alleviation projects being carried out. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, a total of RMB 1,552 billion has been put into grid construction and transformation. In 2016, SGCC sent four outstanding young leaders to work in the three counties and one district. With the long-term help of SGCC, the per capita annual net income of rural residents in the three counties and one district in Hubei has increased from RMB 669,8 in 1995 to RMB 7428 in 2016, driving 807,000 people out of poverty.
According to the Office of Poverty Alleviation of Hubei, in the past two decades, as a responsible central enterprise, SGCC has been committed to helping the development of the three counties and one district in Hubei. The PV power station projects to be implemented this time cover all poor villages in the three counties and one district, which will bring significant benefits. It has be highly recognized by the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development and governments of all levels as well as the support of people living in poverty.
On the launching ceremony, State Grid Hubei Electric Power Company signed agreements with Yichang City, Shien County and Shennongjia Forest District on the building of village-level PV power stations. It is estimated that, in the first five years after being put into operation, each PV power station will be able to bring RMB 120,000 to RMB 150,000 every year to the local village for poverty alleviation, which will benefit 32,253 households and 96,666 people living in poverty.
