¡¾CCTV¡¿CCTV NEWS: The Construction of Central Tibet Grid Interconnection Project Starts Today
The construction of Central Tibet Grid Interconnection Project starts today in Nyingchi, Tibet. With a total investment of RMB 16.2 billion, the project starts at Mangkang County, Changdu City and ends in Sangri County, Shannan City, covering ten counties and three cities in Tibet. According to the project plan, the project will build and expand sixteen substations with the voltage of 110kV and above, and build 2,738km power transmission lines with the voltage of 110kV and above.
The construction will take place at an average altitude of 4000 meters, covering 5 mountains higher than 4500 meters and crossing Lancang River, Nujiang River and YarluZangbu River for more than 10 times.
SGCC Chairman Shu Yinbiao pointed out: "Central Tibet Grid Interconnection Project realized the upgrade of 220kV grid to 500kV grid. It is an artery of the grid system in Tibet that signifies a historic breakthrough in grid development."
Central Tibet Grid Interconnection Project connects Qinghai-Tibet Grid and Sichuan-Tibet Grid and expands the coverage of the main power grid of Tibet. The project, which is expected to be put into operation in 2018, will promote the development and export of clean energy in Tibet and provide reliable power supply for rural grid retrofit and the operation of Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
