People's Daily: Over 90 Percent Rural Area in Jiangsu has Made Power Accessible to Every Household.

"Replacing coal-fired boilers with electric boilers may cost 5 fen more per sweater, but can help increase ironing efficiency and productivity by 20%. What's more, electric boilers are more environmental-friendly," said Xu Shanmao£¬manager of a sweater plant, who lives in Lunniu Vallage, Hengshan Community, Songling County,Wujiang District, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, who is quite satisfied with the newly upgraded boiler.

In Hengshan community of Wujiang, ever since the replacement of coal-fired boilers with electric boilers has begun, 121 households have completed their reconstruction, taking 79 percent of the intended households and 66 percent of the total number of boilers, which is a win-win result for both ecological civilization construction and economic society development.

"Thanks to the new round of rural power network retrofit," said Chen Zhenyu, vice president of marketing department of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company. In the new round of rural power network retrofit, Jiangsu has launched the project "make power accessible to every household". By now£¬among  373£¬000 kilometers of direct-to-rural low voltage power lines, the length of 380V cable has reached 345£¬000 kilometers, taking up over 90 percent of the total. The average capacity of rural household has reached 4.15 KVA, way above 2.2 KVA of national average capacity. Such methods have largely promoted the power quality of rural production and life.

From lightning power to dynamic power, every household can have its own plant.

"The dynamic power used to be hard to get and was not so stable. Sometimes unstable power might affect the fabric processing. After the retrofit of power network, the power has been more stable than ever and our business has become more prosperous than ever, "said Su Yingxi£¬villager in Sujiajian Village of Guli County, Changshu.

In the new round of rural power network retrofit, Guli station of State Grid Changshu Power Supply Company has reset the distribution of load or enlarged the original load capacity, in order to address the problem of rower supply radius being so long, with 400V lines being newly set to integrate households.

Similarly, in Huhexin Village, Yushan County, Changshu, there are about  500 small-sized clothing workshop in 200 buildings. Through rural power network retrofit, the local power suppliers strongly guaranteed the dynamic power need of local plants , by setting new capacity transformers, updating low voltage lines and connecting devices.

Building a home-based plant, dynamic power is essential, which is more difficult to guarantee than lightning power. As Chen Zhenyu referred, dynamic power is also known as three-phase electricity which is consisted by two live lines and one neutral line. The voltage between the live line and the neutral line is 220V and the voltage between the two live lines is 380V. Dynamic power is mainly used in large-scale machine tools, machining, mixers, and electric motors, as well as small-scale processing plants including home-based plants. However, in rural area, the power is always for lightning.

Where does dynamic power come from? In the new round of rural power network retrofit, building dynamic power has become essential. Each household can have their own home-based plant, which has laid a solid foundation for mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

From gas power to electric boiler, green production has brought a lot more profits.

Due to its prosperous economy and enormous small-sized enterprises, Suzhou is one of the first places conducting rural power network retrofit, Jin Linping, living in No. 49 Cangzhong Village is among the original users. He has more to talk than others on replacing the gas boilers with electric boilers. "I have been in the sweater industry for more than 20 years. Power supply has been updated from gas bottle to coal-fired boilers," said Jin. When it came to the ironing process, one worker must keep putting coal into the boilers. Let alone the hard work, the smoke made his own house dirty and polluted. What's more, once it was rainy, the chimney went wet, the boiler couldn't work. 

Before he changed the coal-fired boiler with electric boiler, Jin had considered bio-boiler. But this boiler needed to burn biomass granule fuel, which needs larger space to restore. Even though bio-boiler costs less than an electric one, it is not as convenient to use.

In the end, Jin chose one 24-kilowatt electric boiler. Though the boiler cost him over 5000 yuan, it took up a smaller place and gave a faster and stable air stray, making the production up by 20 percent. With the government subsidies, the electric boiler is much more economical than the coal-fired one. "With the help of the dynamic power, the production has been better than before," said Jin happily.

Related staff of State Grid Wujiang Power Supply Company said that in order to promote this project, the company has assessed the load capacity of power facilities. The company has used nearly 3 million yuan on the 13 new transformer units with a capacity of 3600kVA, 11 site capacity increase units with a capacity of 1700kVA, and on the transformation of 4.15 km of 400V lines in order to meet the increased load brought by the use of electric boilers. At the same time, Hengshan Power Station made an in-depth local village investigation, increased its propaganda, and set up a special channel for electricity application, simplified the acceptance process, helped to update the external lines and encouraged people to replace their coal-fired boilers with electric boilers. .

In 2015, Jiangsu has launch a new round of rural power network retrofit under the guidance of "the 13th Five-Year Plan".  According to the plan of SGCC, Jiangsu has put RMB 5.5 billion into the rural power network project, among which, 4.5 billion yuan was planned for the rural power network retrofit, which will go to three fields: set more rural distribution spots and build more 23 thousand transformers; update the channel, build 3932 kilometers of new power lines; and build auxiliary projects for low-voltage lines by constructing and upgrading 6000km 400V lines.
